Manchester City Under-18 manager Oliver Reiss has spoken highly about Teddie Lamb after his latest goalscoring efforts for the academy side.

The 16-year-old striker registered a brace in Saturday’s 7-3 home win over Blackburn Rovers in the Under-18 Premier League.

Lamb’s efforts helped Manchester City’s U18s maintain their perfect start to the league campaign with three wins out of three.

The youngster also bagged a brace in City’s 3-3 Under-18 Premier League Cup draw at Crystal Palace in midweek for a total of six goals in all competitions.

Oliver Reiss happy with Teddie Lamb scoring ‘a lot of goals’ but insists ‘that’s his job’

Reiss, speaking to the City media team, said he’s obviously happy with his No. 9 “scoring a lot of goals”.

At the same time, the City coach stressed that Lamb is just doing his job, albeit very well.

“That’s his job. Scoring goals. I’m happy with him of course, but it’s nice to see,” Reiss said.

“Again, us scoring goals it doesn’t matter who, but when our No. 9 scores a lot of goals, of course I’m happy with him and for him.”

Despite scoring seven, Reiss was pretty disappointed with the team as a whole for conceding three goals in the game.

“Conceding three goals is too much, but yes all together it was okay, at the moment we are struggling a little bit in the first ten, fifteen minutes in the games,” said the German.

“Always conceding a goal or things like this to have the feeling we’re not starting in the best way, so the last games we needed a little bit of this to come back stronger.

“It’s nice to see that we’re able to do this, but altogether I’m happy even when I’m not happy with all of the phases in the game.”

Teddie Lamb factfile

Lamb is a new addition to the City ranks, having joined the academy this summer from Leyton Orient and signing scholarship terms with the club.

The City website describes him as a centre-forward with a ‘brilliant ability to hold up the ball, link up play in forward positions and test opposing defenders to their limits’,

They also described him as an ‘exciting number nine to watch’.
