Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella has said that the toughest player he has ever come up against is Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne.
One can imagine that several other players have the same opinion of the £54 million (Guardian) man as he has a case for being the best midfielder in the world ever since signing for City back in 2015.
The same is the case for Marc Cucurella, who has clearly had a tough time when going toe-to-toe against Kevin De Bruyne.
Cucurella names De Bruyne as the toughest player he has ever faced
In a recent poll conducted by Visual Game that included 1,500 voters, the Manchester City legend was voted as the best midfielder in Premier League history.
De Bruyne, who expressed his ‘pride’ at becoming the fastest player to reach 100 assists in the league against Southampton continues to break records for fun.
Marc Cucurella, who has faced Kevin De Bruyne at both Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea broke down why he regards him as his toughest ever opponent.
“I think [Kevin] De Bruyne because he’s a top player. He has a lot of power”, he told GOAL. “He’s a very strong player and always, he creates a lot of chances for the team.”
“We have, maybe more attention on this player because he has space or has the opportunity to shoot. It’s a lot easier for him to score and create chances for the team.”
MCN View: The Belgian is as complete a midfielder as the game has seen
Not to suggest that the Belgian is the game’s greatest ever midfielder but in terms of sheer completeness, he is right up there.
As Marc Cucurella said, Kevin De Bruyne is not only a creative genius but can score goals at will and is also deceptively strong.
Apart from that, De Bruyne’s threat out wide due to his near-perfect crossing, unstoppable ball-carrying ability and commendable work rate alongside his staggering longevity makes him one of the most complete players to have ever graced the position.
