Pep Guardiola has raved over the impact that Jeremy Doku has had at Manchester City so far this season.

The winger is in the midst of his debut season at the Manchester club after arriving from Rennes during the previous summer transfer window in a deal worth £55m.

With the Belgian in with a chance of making his latest appearance for the Citizens in tomorrow’s Premier League match against Bournemouth, his manager has spoken out about what he’s made of the attacker so far.

Speaking in his latest press conference ahead of tomorrow’s match against the Cherries, Guardiola had this to say about Doku.

He said: “He is so young, he listens, he improves. His impact has been really, really good. From the bench, his impact has been massive.”

With 11 appearances to his name across all competitions for City this season, the winger has scored two goals and delivered two assists.

Across his seven league appearances, five of which he started, Doku has made more progressive carries (51), carries into the penalty area (29) and successful take-ons (22) than any other City player.

This highlights just how much of a dangerous and forward-thinking player he is.

In terms of his impact off the bench, this best example of this would be in the second half of City’s 3-1 win over RB Leipzig in the Champions League last month where he scored a goal and provided an assist in the final 18 minutes of the game.

His overall performances in the Premier League have earned him a strong season rating of 7.34/10 from WhoScored, making him the third-highest rated player at City behind Erling Haaland (7.62/10) and Rodri (7.59/10).

With all of that in mind, it’s not surprising that Guardiola has been so impressed by what he’s seen from Doku so far, although it could be seen as a surprise that he has managed to settle into the club and show what he’s capable of in such a short period of time.
