Manchester City transfer target, Mateo Kovacic, has reportedly made an ultimatum to Chelsea ahead of the upcoming summer window.
Earlier this week, it was reported that the Citizens have opened talks with the midfielder over a potential summer transfer move.
Now though, some extra behind-the-scenes details have emerged regarding the player and his current position at Chelsea.
Kovacic makes Chelsea stance clear
According to a recent report from 90 Min, the Croatian has made it clear to the west London club that he has no intention of signing a new deal at Stamford Bridge, with his current one set to expire in the summer of 2024.
Chelsea initially signed the 29-year-old on loan from Real Madrid back in august 2018 before then going on to seal a permanent deal for him a year later worth a reported fee of €45m (£38m).
During his time with the west London club, the midfielder has made 221 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals and providing 15 assists along the way.

Across his 27 Premier League appearances this season, the 29-year-old ended the campaign with the second-highest total of progressive passes made in the Chelsea squad (153).
Bearing in mind how Pep Guardiola’s side ended their latest league campaign with more progressive passes (2073) than any other team in the division, this makes it easy to see why they are keen on adding someone like Kovacic to their squad.
Also, with current midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, set to become a free agent at the end of the month, bringing in the Chelsea figure could be a way of having a potential replacement for the German should he decide to leave.
