Manchester City boast one of the best defences in the Premier League.

In their previous Premier League campaign, Pep Guardiola’s side conceded 34 goals in total, leaving only Arsenal (29) in the division to have let fewer in.

Now that another league campaign is about to get underway, one top-flight player has shared his thoughts on one key figure in City’s squad, who has played a key role in the team over what has been a very successful past few years for the club.

Matt Doherty ranks Kyle Walker above Andy Robertson

In a recent video shared on the official Wolves TikTok channel, Doherty was tasked with blind ranking 10 random past and present Premier League defenders.

After putting Kyle Walker in second place, the Wolves figure then put Andy Robertson in sixth place.

Walker is one of the best full-backs in Premier League history

During his time at City, Walker has made 301 appearances for the club across all competitions, chipping in with six goals and 23 assists.

The Englishman, who City paid £50m to sign back in 2017, has also won multiple trophies with the Blues and even captained them to their historic fourth consecutive Premier League title last season.

In comparison, Robertson has featured in 297 games for Liverpool, scoring 11 goals and supplying 65 assists.

Despite providing more goal contributions than Walker, Robertson has only won one Premier League title with his side compared to the City captain’s six.

Back in May, Ashley Young admitted that he thinks the 34-year-old is the best full-back the Premier League has ever seen.

Taking all of that on board, we feel that Walker’s longevity and the success he’s played a key part of at City not only makes him a better full-back than Robertson in the Premier League era but one of the best the country has ever produced.
