Over time, it might become the general consensus that several of the players who have played in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City teams are all-time greats of the game.
The likes of David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Vincent Kompany will perhaps feel the global respect from fans and pundits alike for being a part of one of the greatest club sides of the modern era.
As for current players, their legacies are likely to be associated with greatness once they hang up their boots.
However, the more this current crop of Manchester City players continue to achieve year in and year out, the likelier it will become for the masses to acknowledge their legendary status within the game.
Ultimately, a player’s legacy is dictated by how they are remembered by fans, pundits, former and current professionals.
Kevin De Bruyne is a player who seems to command respect from the best of the best.
For instance, Wayne Rooney admitted he would love to have played with De Bruyne during Euro 2024.
Eden Hazard believes De Bruyne is the best player in the world; an insight into how legends of the game view him.
The £54.5 million man has been a special player for around a decade now.

Le Tissier shares whether Kevin De Bruyne or Hoddle is better
Since his time at VFL Wolfsburg, it seemed like the Belgian was a world-class midfielder in the making.
It is safe to say that ever since signing for Manchester City in 2015, he has fulfilled the remarkable promise he showcased as a once-young prospect.
So much so that now, it seems like the 33-year-old is regarded as a superior player than several other legendary midfielders without any eyebrows being raised.
Such was the case when Matt Le Tissier was quizzed about whether De Bruyne or Glenn Hoddle was the better player, he sided with City’s vice-captain.
Le Tissier told The World Class Stamp Podcast: “I’m going Kevin De Bruyne.”
Hoddle is rightly regarded as one of the greatest players England has ever produced as a nation.
The former Tottenham Hotspur attacker was named in the PFA First Division Team of the Year on five separate instances — emphasising how brilliant a player he was.
De Bruyne deserves to be considered superior to Hoddle
However, as terrific a player as Hoddle was, Le Tissier rightly feels De Bruyne has pipped him as an attacking midfielder.
The Belgian international’s vision and range of final passes cannot be rivalled by many players in history, including the ex-Chelsea maverick.
The Englishman was perhaps more skillful but then the Drongen-born maestro’s carrying of the ball, especially on the counter-attack is also second to none.
However, where De Bruyne most certainly trumps Hoddle is when it comes to their respective trophy cabinets.
The latter never won a league title or Europe’s elite competition in his career, unlike the former, who has won six at Manchester City while also winning the Champions League in a treble-winning campaign last year.
As a result, it is only fair to regard De Bruyne as the superior of the two magicians.
