Pep Guardiola has hinted that he could extend his contract at Manchester City following the recent announcement of Jurgen Klopp’s upcoming departure from Liverpool.

It was announced on Friday that the German will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, with one of the reasons why being that he is running out of energy to do the job.

After seeing his side beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the FA Cup last night, Guardiola was asked about his own energy levels and if that will have an impact on how long he stays on as City’s manager.

Speaking to the media after last night’s match in north London, the Spaniard, whose current contract at City is set to expire in 2025, had this to say on the matter.

He said: “I’m fine. I want to do it still for one more year, and maybe extend.”

The 53-year-old signed an extension on his contract back in November 2022, which if he sees out would see him spend nine years at the Etihad Stadium, the same amount of time that Klopp will have been in charge of Liverpool.

During his time at City so far, the Spaniard has won 14 major titles and is on the hunt to make history this season by potentially seeing his team become the first side to win four Premier League trophies in a row.

In terms of potentially signing another extension in the future, we feel that the club should do all they can behind the scenes to secure Guardiola’s signature and keep him at City for as long as possible.

However, with the Citizens working to regain the three titles the picked up last season, this will undoubtedly be Guardiola’s main concern before potential talks about his future can take place.
