Manchester City are currently in the United States preparing for the FIFA Club World Cup.
Pep Guardiola’s men get their campaign underway next Wednesday as the Premier League club take on Moroccan side Wydad AC as part of Group G, which also contains Juventus and Al Ain.
The Manchester club have been busy in the lead-up to the tournament as they have added four new players to Guardiola’s squad, with Man City announcing the signing of Tijjani Reijnders on Wednesday before they jetted off to the United States.
Micah Richards has been previewing the FIFA Club World Cup, and ahead of the tournament kicking off, the former Man City star has stated that his former club will win it, with one of the Manchester club’s new signings playing a key role.

Micah Richards is excited about Tijjani Reijnders
Man City fans are excited about the signing of Tijjani Reijnders as the Dutch star was very impressive with AC Milan last season, where he was crowned Serie A Midfielder of the Season, and supporters of the Manchester club could get a first glimpse of their new signing on Wednesday.
Richards is also very excited to see the 26-year-old in a sky blue shirt and believes the Dutch star will play a key role in City winning the Club World Cup.
“Oh, lovely, they’ll top the group. They’re winning this whole thing, I’m telling you now,” the pundit said on the Rest Is Football. “Rodri is back. Reijnders, Reijnders is coming. Wonderful, talented midfielder.”
Nigel Reo-Coker thinks Reijnders is similar to Frank Lampard, and if the Netherlands international can have half the career the former Chelsea star had in the Premier League, he is in for a great time at Man City.
Reijnders is excited to play with Rodri, and the duo are set to form a lethal partnership at the heart of City’s team, and it will be very exciting to see over the coming months how that relationship develops.
Are Man City expected to win the FIFA Club World Cup
Phil Foden has stated that Man City’s squad want to win the new version of the FIFA Club World Cup, but after the underwhelming 2024/25 campaign they experienced, the Manchester club are not the favourites.
Champions League winners PSG are the most likely team to be victorious again as the Ligue 1 champions have been unstoppable since the turn of the year and have blown away everyone put before them.
Real Madrid are taking the tournament very seriously, evident in the small fee they paid to bring Trent Alexander-Arnold to the club early, and will always be one of the favourites, given the amount of superstars they have in their squad.
Champions League finalists, Inter Milan, will also be in contention, while Bayern Munich will be looking to make a statement in the United States this summer. Man City are probably in with these two, but Guardiola’s men have as good a chance as any, if they can perform at their highest level.
