Micah Richards has joked that he is concerned Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker will get into punditry in the near future.

The Citizens won their fifth Premier League title in six years recently and could still potentially get their hands on the FA Cup and Champions League.

Following their 1-0 league win over Chelsea on Sunday, which saw Pep Guardiola’s side lift the trophy, one former City player, who has now made a name for himself as a top pundit, shared his concerns at possibly seeing a current figure in City’s squad join the media world.

Speaking on the latest edition of 5 Live Sport’s The Monday Night Club podcast, Richards said this on the subject of City players potentially getting into the media in the future.

He said: “Kyle Walker started doing some bits and pieces. He’s got five Premier Leagues, on the verge of the treble.

“John Stones has got a bit more time, hasn’t he? He’s got 10 years left, Kyle Walker is only a couple of years younger than me, I’m sweating!”

Back in March, Walker was a pundit for the BBC’s FA Cup coverage of Sheffield United’s clash against Tottenham Hotspur, two of the defender’s previous clubs.

While Richards is currently a regular pundit for the BBC as well as Sky Sports and CBS Sport, he may not need to worry about Walker taking any of his limelight anytime soon.

Bearing in mind how the 32-year-old still has a year left on his contract with City and reportedly wants to stay at the Etihad Stadium until that time, his focus will surely remain on his job on the pitch and win as much silverware as possible.
