Micah Richards gives Kevin De Bruyne verdict after Manchester City maul Huddersfield
Since his return to the fold for Pep Guardiola’s men on Sunday, Kevin De Bruyne has arguably become the biggest talking point in football.
Considering the Belgian’s standing in the game and the ramifications his displays could have on the Premier League title race, one can understand why that has been the case.
Micah Richards decided to chime in on how Kevin De Bruyne played after Manchester City eased their way past Huddersfield.

“It’s just brilliant for Man City. [Jeremy] Doku back also, I was looking at the position and the positions Kevin De Bruyne was picking up when he came on the field and like I thought he would, he sort of played down that right channel.”
“And he gets an assist as well, lovely movement, lovely play, dinked one over for Doku just to stick away”, Richards said on The Rest Is Football podcast.
The initial signs of Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden as a midfield pairing were positive
Micah Richards’ analysis of the positions Kevin De Bruyne took was spot on as he played as a right-sided midfielder against Huddersfield Town, while Manchester City teammate Phil Foden occupied the left-hand side.
Considering how decisive Foden has been in midfield recently, many have wondered whether Guardiola will play him alongside De Bruyne or whether he will be sacrificed out to the wing upon his return.
That is a question that still requires answering but the 32-year-old impressed while the Englishman managed to add to his goal tally with a belter of a strike from outside the box.
In addition, when Kevin De Bruyne was brought on, Manchester City were leading 2-0 and the final score ended up being 5-0, indicating early signs of how deadly a duo he could form with Phil Foden in the middle of the park.
