Michael Owen has named which striker he prefers out of Erling Haaland and Harry Kane.
Erling Haaland bagged his 29th goal of the season in just 32 games on Wednesday night as Manchester City defeated FC Copenhagen in the Champions League 3-1 to advance to the quarter-finals.
The Norwegian sensation has continued where he left off last season after his remarkable goal return fired City to a treble triumph.
Haaland now has 81 goals in just 85 games for Pep Guardiola’s side, however, he is behind Harry Kane so far this season.
The England captain has been sensational since signing for Bayern Munich this summer and already has 33 goals in 33 games, as well as nine assists, in Germany.
City signed Haaland in 2022 when they failed to sign Kane from Tottenham the year previous and now Michael Owen has named which of the pair he prefers.

Erling Haaland v Harry Kane
Speaking on TNT Sports, Owen said: “If my life depended on it, in a finishing contest, I would have Harry Kane.
“I would have a few strikers ahead of Haaland, I must admit.
“He scores massive goals, so you’ve got to be careful what you say, because you can be made to look foolish with the numbers he scores. It’s incredible.
“Haaland’s [xG] is below par. He should have scored about three more in the Premier League, he should have scored an extra goal in the Champions League, and that’s before you look at cup competitions.
“He’s below what you would expect on chances he’s been given this season.”
City will be happy with their choice
Unlike Kane, Haaland has missed 12 games with his first significant injury since signing for City and is still feeling his way back to full fitness.
That’s a lot of football to miss and, on his current average, he’d have another 10 goals to his name if he played in them all.
That’s some going and City will not be worried about Haaland’s notable misses of late when he is still finding the back of the net so frequently.
The Blues moved for Haaland after their approach for Kane was rejected and it couldn’t have worked out better as they got a younger striker who is just as lethal for half the price.
