Michail Antonio has praised Erling Haaland and his prowess in terms of scoring goals in the Premier League.

The centre-forward recently brought an end to his debut title-winning season with Pep Guardiola’s side having scored 36 goals in 35 appearances.

This has since led to another top-flight striker giving his thoughts on the City star and his endeavours in England.

Antonio hails Haaland’s ability as a goalscorer

Speaking on a recent edition of the Filthy @ Five podcast, Antonio said this about Haaland and his efforts in the league this season.

He said: “I rate Haaland. You can’t say anything to Haaland because if you look at his chances to goals ratio, mad.

“His chances created to actual goals is ridiculous. I think if he gets two chances, he scores one.”

As one of the four players in the entire Premier League that racked up over 100 shots at goal throughout the season, the Norwegian ended the campaign with a higher rate of goals per shot (0.25) than any of them, the joint-third highest in the division.

In addition to that, the 22-year-old also had the highest rate of goals per shot on target (0.55) out of players that scored more than 10 goals in the league.

This, ultimately, makes it easy to see why Haaland has the highest rate of expected goals (28.8) in the league and why Antonio has highlighted how effective the City star has been in front of goal.

It also saw the former Borussia Dortmund attacker find himself being named as the Premier League’s Player and Young Player of the Year.

With all of that in mind, it’s safe to say that, for a debut season in English football, it wasn’t a bad one from the Norway international.

Moving forward, the aim now for Haaland will be to equal his record or even improve on it next time around, which will not be an easy thing to do.
