Mikel Arteta will be making a return to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
After spending three years as Pep Guardiola’s assistant coach at Manchester City, the 42-year-old was appointed as Arsenal’s manager back in December 2019.
On Sunday afternoon, Arteta will be taking his side to the Etihad for the latest meeting with the Citizens in the Premier League.
Ahead of this big game, the Arsenal boss has shared his thoughts on one particular advantage City have over his side for this match.

Mikel Arteta addresses Man City’s extra day advantage ahead of Arsenal clash
In a recent press conference (via Arsenal), Arteta had this to say when asked about the extra day of preparation City have over the Gunners in the buildup to Sunday’s game.
He said: “We wanted the same as them, we’re not getting it, so we have to adapt and make the most of the time that we have today and tomorrow and on the morning of the match to prepare in the best way to go there and win the game.”
City will have to make the most of this advantage
Having played Inter Milan in the Champions League at home on Wednesday night, City then saw Arsenal take on Atalanta in Italy the day after, with both games ending in a 0-0 draw.
So not only have the Blues had an extra rest day, they haven’t had any travelling to do, unlike the Gunners.
Alan Shearer recently claimed that a draw would suit both City and Arsenal given how both sides were in European action in midweek.
Taking into account the clear advantage the home side have in terms of having an extra day of rest and preparation, they will have to make the most of this benefit and do all they can to secure a fifth consecutive league victory.
