Pep Guardiola has now sent a warning to Phil Foden at Manchester City ahead of the Carabao Cup clash against Newcastle United.
The Spaniard was quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

Well, the 52-year-old warned the England international not to get ahead of himself as he targets another treble win this season.
Guardiola said: “Phil is so young, you understand with time. It’s nice to have the ambition but ambition has to be the next game. In May, if you’re still in the competitions you can think about it, but thinking about it now, in late September, can be a mistake.”
Spot on.
Complacency and a lack of focus can cost any athlete, at any level.
Of course, it is nice to see Foden have a desire to make history at the Etihad Stadium once again, although it can be easy to get distracted by the dream of securing another treble, and letting it bite you on the backside at this stage of the season.
Nevertheless, the £225,000-a-week man is experienced enough to know this. Guardiola will surely be reiterating this message to his No.47 and the rest of the squad as the 2023/24 campaign goes on.
Phil Foden has enjoyed a superb start to the season at Manchester City
As Foden targets another treble – at least – this season, he is certainly doing his part to ensure that it happens.
The Stockport-born maestro has scored one goal while also providing three assists in six Premier League appearances so far this term, while also grabbing another assist in the 3-1 UEFA Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade.
In the absence of Kevin De Bruyne, Foden is certainly stepping up to take responsibility in a creative sense, and it is testament to his quality that Manchester City are still flying without the Belgian playmaker.
Hopefully, Foden can maintain his form as Manchester City attempt to bring more silverware to the Etihad Stadium this season.
