Cesc Fabregas has shared his thoughts on the similarities and differences between Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The former Arsenal, Chelsea and Barcelona player featured under many top managers throughout his playing career.

Now though, the Spaniard has shared his thoughts about two of the most influential managers he played under.

Speaking in a recent video on The Coaches’ Voice YouTube channel, Fabregas had this to about Guardiola and what separates him from Wenger.

He said: “From Pep, a little bit the same. They are two different types of characters, they see football similarly, the training sessions are quite similar but in terms of character, I think Arsene is more friendly, closer to the player.

“I think Pep maintains the distance with the player much more. He can be a little bit more aggressive on his message and it’s worked for him very very well as well so that shows you again in football you need to be yourself, you need to believe in what you’re doing, have a clear idea and message of what you want to send to your players, to your staff, to upstairs and that’s it.”

During his playing career, Fabregas featured in 303 games across all competitions, scoring 57 goals and providing 97 assists along the way.

Then during his spell at Barcelona, the 36-year-old scored 15 goals and supplied 20 assists in 48 appearances under Guardiola.

Bearing in mind how the two managers are seen as two of the most successful head coaches English football has ever seen, it’s clear from what Fabregas had to say that a manager can be successful with the right team regardless of what his approach is in terms of the way he coaches his side.
