Mikki van Sas has been speaking about his start to life at Feyenoord – after leaving Manchester City on transfer deadline day.
The 19-year-old opted to leave on Friday 1st September after spending three years at the Etihad Stadium without making a single first team appearance.

What’s the story?
Well, the Netherlands Under-19 international seems to be very pleased with his decision.
As quoted by Feyenoord Pings, Van Sas said: “I became champion three times with the Under-18 and Under-21 teams. I trained every day with the best players of my age and played two matches a week.
“I also sometimes trained with the first team, where shots from Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland came at me. I have gotten better every year. How can I have failed?
“I am very happy that I am now at Feyenoord. The bigger the challenge, the better and more fun I find it. I am convinced that I can become much better and the No.1 goalkeeper here.”

We’re glad that things have seemingly worked out well for Van Sas.
It must have been hard for the teenager to make 16 appearances for Manchester City’s Under-18 side, then eight appearances for the Under-19 team, before going on to rack up 30 games for the Under-21 side, only to not get a single opportunity in the senior setup.
Having said that, it was always going to be difficult with the likes of Ederson and Stefan Ortega ahead of him in the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
Nevertheless, Van Sas seems to have a fantastic outlook for a young goalkeeper trying to make his name in senior football, which bodes well for his chances of eventually getting an opportunity.
Hopefully, the Utrecht-born glovesman gets a shot at Feyenoord.
