Riyad Mahrez has sent Manchester City a message on social media after seeing them win the Super Cup.
After helping the Manchester club win the treble at the end of last season, the winger waved goodbye to the Etihad Stadium earlier in the summer transfer window and joined Al-Ahli in a deal worth £30m.
Now that his former club have lifted the Super Cup by beating Sevilla on penalties after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes, Mahrez has taken to social media to share a message to City and their current players.

During his time with the Citizens, the 32-year-old made 236 appearances for the club across all competitions, scoring 78 goals, providing 59 assists and winning numerous trophies along the way.

Bearing in mind how the attacker scored three goals and delivered two assists in the nine Champions League games he played in last season that led to City winning the competition and securing their place in tonight’s Super Cup match against Sevilla, it’s understandable why he has jokingly asked if he can claim this latest title as well.
In our view, the fact that the player has taken the time to send a social media message to his former teammates congratulating them on their latest European title shows how much of a connection he had with them while he was a part of Pep Guardiola’s side and how much love he still has for everyone at the club, which is great to see.
