Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola lavished praise upon Oscar Bobb despite his side’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
Speaking to the press after the contest (via City’s official website), the Catalan tactician gave his two cents on the 20-year-old’s first competitive start for the club.
It’s safe to say that Pep Guardiola was mesmerised as Oscar Bobb was one of the standouts for Manchester City against Newcastle United.
Pep Guardiola raves about ‘more than brilliant’ Oscar Bobb after Manchester City lose to Newcastle
Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Guardiola in pre-season, the Norwegian wonderkid looked right at home in this City side from the off.
Technically, the teenager was impeccable, as he was when ghosting past defenders and when given the ball in tight areas.
After Manchester City suffered a narrow defeat to Newcastle, Pep Guardiola lauded Oscar Bobb for his bright display.

“Absolutely, Oscar was more than brilliant in all parts, offence and defence. He played as a No.10, as a striker, as a winger, we know in the pockets in the middle he moves really well. His intensity is good, he works without the ball.”
“His ability in the first half was in the action with Julian, he was a little bit shy. He should have finished the action but it’s normal at that age”, he added.
Oscar Bobb took his chance with both hands
A huge positive from the fact that Manchester City lost to Newcastle is that Oscar Bobb looked the real deal when handed a start.
Perhaps the biggest compliment one can pay to the youngster is he looked like a City player instead of sticking out like a sore thumb.
Bobb slotted in seamlessly, be it as an advanced midfielder, on the right wing or as a striker, while both on and off the ball, he did not put a foot wrong.
As Oscar Bobb continues to develop, he could develop into a truly special player one day.
