Nathan Ake says there’s actually not many better than 23-year-old Man City ace at one skill

Nathan Ake believes Phil Foden is one of the best in the business on the half-turn and then conjuring something out of nothing.

The Dutch defender praised his Manchester City teammate after his scintillating performance in his side’s 3-1 victory against Brentford.

The 23-year-old matched the likes of Eden Hazard, Gareth Bale, Sadio Mane and Steven Gerrard by scoring his second hat-trick in the Premier League.

Nathan Ake says Phil Foden is “one of the best” on the half-turn

In August, Peter Crouch claimed the Englishman was the “best in the league” at turning past his marker and driving at defences.

Last month, Ally McCoist admitted that he is “not sure there is anyone better” than the treble-winner at this particular skill.

Now, Nathan Ake, who has trained and played with Phil Foden has praised him for this very skill as he hailed his display against Brentford once again.

“Phil [Foden] was the difference today. Phil is one of the best, to be able to turn and find a little bit of creativity, particularly today”, Ake said after the contest (via London Evening Standard).

Phil Foden is the best in the world on the half-turn

In our view, not only is Phil Foden one of the best on the half-turn as Nathan Ake claimed but is the standout player in the world at executing this skill.

The number of times Foden has managed to pull off such a difficult piece of skill is astounding.

The five-time Premier League winner does not even need to take a touch before he spins past his marker.

Phil Foden simply caresses the ball with his left foot and turns the defender in question before trying to create or score a goal and on other occasions, this very skill manages to turn Manchester City’s sequence of play into a counter-attack.

Unless a defender is aware of Foden’s threat on the half-turn and decides to foul him, it seems impossible to stop him in his tracks.
