Nedum Onuoha highlights one worrying thing he’s seen from Man City this season

Manchester City have had a perfect start to their latest Premier League campaign.

Pep Guardiola’s side are on the hunt to win a fifth consecutive league title after becoming the first side to win a fourth Premier League trophy in a row last season.

With four games played, the Blues have won all four, scoring more goals (11) than any other side in the division in the process.

Despite that, a pundit and former City player has highlighted one particular aspect of the Manchester club’s campaign so far that he thinks is concerning.

Nedum Onuoha shares one concern he has about Man City this season

Appearing in a recent episode of Planet Premier League, Nedum Onuoha had this to say about City conceding early in their two previous Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium.

He said: “I don’t think two incidents force a trend just yet, but it’s not great, especially the timing of the last one against Brentford, because I literally sat down, got notifications saying, City have started their game, and then my phone went off again.

“I was like, oh, what’s going on here? Is there a glitch? Oh, no, City have conceded. Okay, fair enough.

“That was a particularly bad start, and I think the issue comes, like last season, there was a really weird start as well where they conceded with the first shot that the other team had on numerous occasions as well.

“But the first shot wasn’t necessarily in the first minute, they could be dominating games, but then 30 minutes in, someone has a shot and it’s a goal.

“You know, these are things which you’d want to try and address, but I don’t necessarily know how to address that.

“The quick start, I think every start from every team is going to be a bit different. I don’t think they’re like really wide open as well when they concede, but it is a concern.”

City need to pick up some clean sheets

In their first home game of the season, City found themselves 1-0 down in the opening 10 minutes against newly promoted Ipswich Town.

Then in last weekend’s match against Brentford, the home side conceded in the first minute of the game.

Even though City still managed to win the league last season without having the best defensive record in the division, Guardiola will still undoubtedly want to see his side stop conceding first, especially at home.

With the Blues’ next home league game seeing them come up against Arsenal, who have been fighting for the title for the past two seasons, this would be a great opportunity for City to show off their defensive stature and secure their first clean sheet on home soil in the league.
