Nedum Onuoha has shared his thoughts on the upcoming FA Cup final between Manchester City and Manchester United.

Following Sunday’s final day of the Premier League season, Pep Guardiola’s side will be preparing for their two upcoming finals, the first being for the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium against their close rivals, followed by a trip to Istanbul to take on Inter Milan for the Champions League.

Even though City have a clash against Brentford to get through to finally bring a close to another title-winning campaign, the subject of the FA Cup final has already come up, with one pundit sharing his assessment of the fixture.

Speaking in a recent video on the ESPN UK YouTube channel, Onuoha said this on how he thinks the final will go down.

He said: “They are favourites, you can see the way that City have finished off the season how good they’ve been and Man United, they still have a few question marks over them even though this has been a step forward this season.

“But then in those big games and the momentum City have, you can see why they’re going to match up against United and be favoured. They’re going to control the ball, they’re going to be able to create chances and if United aren’t really at their best defensively, then they could get caught out.

“Obviously, there’s always going to be a threat from United with some of their players, whether it’s the likes of [Marcus] Rashford who has scored 30 goals this season or Casemiro stepping up, but you just feel, at this moment, City probably have too much for them, so as a consequence, I’m going to have to favour them and I believe they can do it but I think it’s going to be a tough game.”

Having faced off against each other twice in the league this season, both sides have won and lost, with City winning 6-3 at the Etihad Stadium back in October, which then led to United securing a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford in January.

With the Red Devils already having their own success at Wembley this season by winning the Carabao Cup, they’ll want to do the same again this time around, potentially scuppering their rivals’ chances of winning the treble.

However, with the Citizens being crowned Premier League champions again, they’ll undoubtedly want to add more trophies to their season, starting with the FA Cup, which will set them up for the Champions League final.
