Negotiations between Manchester City full-back Kyle Walker and Bayern Munich are said to be faltering, with City currently having no replacement for him.
Walker’s future remains up in the air.
The 32-year-old was a key part of City’s Treble win last season.
He saw a lot of minutes in the last few months of the season in particular.
But after starting the FA Cup final against Manchester United, Walker was then dropped for the Champions League final against Inter.
He did get a cameo towards the end.
But that would have disappointed the England international.
Since the final in Istanbul, there has been speculation about Walker’s future at City.
Bayern are known to be interested, and now a German journalist has provided an update on the situation.
Negotiations between Kyle Walker and Bayern faltering
According to the chief reporter at Abendzeitung Maximilian Koch, the negotiations between Walker and Bayern are now stalling.
Walker has spoken with Thomas Tuchel, and is excited about the prospect of being a regular at the Bavarian giants.
But City currently do not have a replacement in mind for Walker.
The club are looking to extend his contract beyond 2024.
Clearly, City officials still see Walker as a very important player.
He is certainly unique, and it is little wonder they don’t want to lose him.
It remains to be seen how hard, if at all, Walker pushes for an exit.
Recently, City were linked with a move for Achraf Hakimi, who would perhaps make for a good replacement for Walker if he did go.
Man City should do their utmost to keep Kyle Walker
So at this point it looks as though Walker might be more likely to stay at City than join Bayern.
That would be a real positive for City.
Because £160,000-a-week star Walker remains one of the top full-backs in the world.

He may be 33 now, but he is still a physical specimen and very few can offer what he does. He was rightly branded an ‘elite performer’ in a feature from The Athletic a couple of years ago, which remains true today.
Hopefully, City officials can convince him to stick around a little while longer.
But it would be understandable if Walker pushed to embark on a new challenge after winning a Treble.
