Neil Warnock hails ‘incredible’ Pep Guardiola and makes huge claim about Man City

Neil Warnock has declared that this Manchester City side are the best team he has ever seen in his life, and recalled facing Pep Guardiola’s side in 2018.

The Citizens are in absolutely tremendous form right now.

The team are unbeaten since February 5 when they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, and are on the brink of three trophies.

But the next few days are huge for City.

It’s Everton in the Premier League today, and the Toffees are scrapping for their Premier League lives. It will not be an easy game, and they have been known to give City trouble.

And then of course, it’s Real Madrid next week in the second leg of the Champions League semi-final.

And in early June, City take on Manchester United in the FA Cup final.

Should City become Treble winners come the end of the season, there will definitely be an argument for this to be one of the greatest sides ever.

But in the eyes of Warnock, City are already the best. He spoke about facing City in 2018, and joked about how he couldn’t help but praise a goal from Ilkay Gundogan.

He said (via AFC Wimbledon): “My god Pep Guardiola is incredible. Manchester City are the best team I have ever seen in my life. And I’ve seen some teams! I saw Pelé play for Santos at Sheffield Wednesday when I was a kid.

“When I was at Cardiff City we played them at home. It was 0-0 after 25 minutes gone. I stood there thinking we’d done really well. We then went in 3-0 down at half-time! The third goal that Ilkay Gündogan scored was so good that I was praising it under my breath on the touchline!”

City won that game 5-0 back in September 2018.

Warnock has just finished a brilliant stint at Huddersfield Town. He took over them in February when they were second bottom and guided them to safety in the Championship.

A huge compliment for Manchester City from Pep Guardiola from Neil Warnock

This is quite the compliment from Warnock.

He’s been involved in the game for a long time and has seen many a great side.

Certainly, if City deliver a Treble come the end of the season, there will need to be a conversation about where this side ranks among the best there’s ever been.

Arguably, the addition of Erling Haaland makes it at least one of the scariest ever.
