Manchester City have made seven signings this summer.

It was revealed by Manchester City News that Middlesbrough insiders are big fans of Sverre Nypan — who the Sky Blues signed and proceeded to send on a season-long loan.

Marcus Bettinelli is unlikely to play first-team football for Pep Guardiola’s side this campaign as well, as Manchester City have three goalkeepers aside from the former Chelsea shotstopper at their disposal.

Aside from the aforementioned pair, City have signed Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Tijjani Reijnders, James Trafford and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Neil Warnock is really happy Man City signed Gianluigi Donnarumma

Paris Saint-Germain fan and journalist Julien Laurens claimed Donnarumma struggles in possession, which makes his move to the Etihad Stadium a fascinating one.

Pep Guardiola ostracised Joe Hart for not being a ball-playing goalkeeper in 2016 but nine years later, his Sky Blues side have sealed a move for the Italian, who is also a traditional shotstopper like the Englishman.

However, Neil Warnock told talkSPORT that he is delighted about the fact that Manchester City signed Donnarumma because he could help them become a more direct side: “I’m really pleased he’s got that goalie, Donnarumma.”

As a result, Warnock believes Donnarumma not being the best on the ball could help City: “I’m not so sure it’s a bad thing that he’s not so good playing out from the back. Because I don’t think they play early enough at times and [Erling] Haaland, he’s on to knock it early and they pass it 20 times.”

How Man City insiders feel about Gianluigi Donnarumma’s ball-playing ability

Coming from such an experienced manager, Pep Guardiola will be delighted that he is a fan of the former AC Milan number one’s arrival.

Donnarumma revealed Guardiola “really wanted” to sign him, which shows that he backs the former PSG star to shine in his Manchester City side.

Manchester City are bullish about Donnarumma’s signing for multiple reasons.

As a result, Neil Warnock’s defence of Donnarumma’s suitability in Pep Guardiola’s system is a sentiment that Manchester City seem to wholeheartedly agree with.
