Manchester City are now keen to sign Toni Kroos – a player Zinedine Zidane has tipped to go down as a footballing legend.
It was Defensa Central who claimed that Pep Guardiola wants to sign the Germany international, and is even willing to offer him £250,000-a-week.
So, what has Zinedine Zidane said about Toni Kroos in the past? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Guardiola is said to be on red alert as the 33-year-old’s contract expires at the end of the season.
The Spaniard – of course – worked with the Real Madrid No.8 at Bayern Munich.
Kroos made 51 appearances under Guardiola at the Allianz Arena, scoring four goals while also providing nine assists as Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga, the DFB-Pokal, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup before leaving to join Real Madrid in a £20m deal.
If the German does end up at Manchester City in 2024, it would presumably come with Zidane’s approval.
The French icon – who has also managed Kroos – once claimed that he has never seen the playmaker lose possession.

Speaking on a documentary about the Manchester City target, Zidane said: “I love to watch Toni train. I love to be there for his training sessions. They’re exceptional sessions. I’m not saying it for the sake of it. It’s true. I’ve never seen him lose the ball. Well, maybe once. His game is always elegant and efficient. He never has a bad day.”
The 51-year-old has also tipped Kroos to go down as an all-time great.
Zidane told Real France: “Everything in his life is about football and family, nothing else matters. He will be remembered as a spectacular player, one of the all-time greats in his position.”
Manchester City must sign Toni Kroos
The Greifswald-born maestro is a bit older than Guardiola’s usual signings at Manchester City.

However, the prospect of signing Kroos on a free transfer simply cannot be ignored – especially as he plays the game with his brain rather than relying on physical attributes, which decline with age.
Amid serious doubts over the future of Kalvin Phillips, Guardiola must attempt to reunite with Kroos next summer if he declines a new contract at Real Madrid.
