Nicolas Jackson has said that Mauricio Pochettino told him he could have a career revival in the same vein as Kevin De Bruyne.
When Kevin De Bruyne was at Chelsea and even upon his return to the Premier League, sceptics queued up in numbers to doubt his potential to become a success.
The Senegalese striker told the Evening Standard that he is not paying any attention to his critics as he intends to prove them wrong by becoming a world-class player like the Manchester City talisman one day.
Nicolas Jackson says Mauricio Pochettino told him he could become like Kevin De Bruyne
The Belgian midfielder is one of Europe’s finest players and has been for several years now.
Winning almost every possible trophy in club football, De Bruyne’s legacy is cemented in stone as a legend of the beautiful game.
It seems like Mauricio Pochettino has a similar vision in mind for Nicolas Jackson when assessing the rise of Kevin De Bruyne.

“He [Mauricio Pochettino] has been with a lot of young players, so he motivates me every day and tells me to go and he has seen people worse than me [in the past] and they are now big players. [Kevin] De Bruyne was here and [Mohamed] Salah was here. They struggled here and are now big players. They didn’t listen to people who don’t know football, he keeps telling me that”, he told the Evening Standard.
“He knows football; they don’t know football, so I don’t listen to them.”
Kevin De Bruyne always had the talent to reach the absolute top
One can understand why Kevin De Bruyne is an inspirational figure for Nicolas Jackson and Mauricio Pochettino when it comes to his star striker.
While Jackson is quite talented as a prospect, De Bruyne was always cut from a special cloth.
At Chelsea, it was just a case of the former Genk youngster not getting the platform to showcase his one-of-a-kind skillset.
Nicolas Jackson, on the other hand, has started in a majority of games for Mauricio Pochettino’s side this season and he is still miles away from becoming a top striker anytime soon.
Any time Kevin De Bruyne was given a chance to shine, be it at Werder Bremen, VFL Wolfsburg or Manchester City, he set the world alight, which makes the comparison to his story quite inaccurate.
