‘No one else’… Michail Antonio says there’s only one reason why Man City could sign Kylian Mbappe

Michail Antonio has claimed that Manchester City would be the only Premier League club that could sign Kylian Mbappe.

The Paris Saint-Germain star’s future has been the centre of attention recently as he said that he has not made a decision regarding what he will do in the summer when his contract at the French club runs out.

This has now led to one Premier League player sharing his thoughts on what potential moves the Frenchman could make in the summer.

Speaking in a recent edition of The Footballer’s Football Podcast, Antonio had this to say about the possibility of Mbappe making a move from PSG to City.

He said: “I don’t want the Liverpool fans firing shots. Can Liverpool pay the salary? If he is going anywhere it would be Real Madrid. If he is coming to the Premier League, it’s going to be Man City. They are the only two clubs that are going to be paying the wages. There is no one else.”

After making his move to PSG back in 2017 on an initial loan deal that was made permanent a year later for a fee of £166m, Mbappe has gone on to make 283 appearances across all competitions, scoring 234 goals and delivering 100 assists along the way.

Having been linked with a move to Real and Liverpool previously, the France international would certainly be a interesting prospect for any top side to buy if he makes himself available in the summer.

However, the fact that the attacker is currently picking up a base weekly wage of €1,384,615 (£1,194,439) at PSG may make it difficult for any side to offer him a financial deal that he deems acceptable unless he’s willing to take a wage cut.

Also, with Pep Guardiola saying back in June that City wouldn’t be signing Mbappe during the previous summer transfer window before hinting that the attacker already has his ideal destination in mind, this makes it seem unlikely that the Manchester club will be welcoming Mbappe to the Etihad Stadium in the near future.
