‘No one else’… Tim Sherwood says Man City have a player who scored a goal this season only Mo Salah can

Tim Sherwood believes the opening strike from Erling Haaland against Everton is the type of goal only Mohamed Salah can score.

What makes Haaland a truly special goalscorer is the different types of finishes he can execute, just like many would say about Aguero and Tevez.

Sean Dyche’s side had done a commendable job of restricting City during their meeting at the Etihad Stadium before the Norwegian scored a rasping volley to hand his side the lead before bagging a second in an important victory for his side last month.

It seems like the ball tends to fall to the elite players, as it did in Haaland’s case from De Bruyne’s corner against the Toffees.

Much like how it was Virgil van Dijk out of every Liverpool player to score the winner against Chelsea in the Carabao Cup final, the same can be said about the inevitability surrounding the Leeds-born striker’s goal.

“It’s not about the easy chances. It’s not about them chances and the ones he missed. It’s about the chances that are not even chances which he scores. I think it was the Brentford game when the game was going nowhere”, he said on Sky Sports.

“It was very tight, it just needed that and the corner just falls to him on his right foot and he just volleys it past the goalkeeper.”

Tim Sherwood proceeded to correct himself, saying, “Everton game, yeah.”

“I mean, it’s just incredible how he can score that goal. No one else has got that apart from Mo [Mohamed] Salah. Mo Salah’s got it.”

Erling Haaland certainly scored a similar goal to the Liverpool winger

Tim Sherwood makes an apt comparison as just like Mohamed Salah, Erling Haaland showcased why he is an instinctive finisher.

Often, Salah’s attempts on goal are difficult for goalkeepers to stop as the timing of his shots can be rapid as his decision-making is decisive and the way he can strike the ball is often without any backlift inside the box.

Haaland exhibited such traits and scored a type of goal that many would associate with the Egyptian winger.

Ultimately, the 23-year-old should view this as a compliment as Mohamed Salah’s finishing as a whole is world-class.
