Michael Brown has now made a Premier League title claim involving Manchester City and Liverpool ahead of Saturday’s clash at the Etihad Stadium.
The 46-year-old made the comments when speaking on BBC Radio Manchester’s We’re Not Really Here podcast.
So, what did Michael Brown say about Manchester City? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, the man from Hartlepool believes Manchester City will still win the Premier League title – even if the treble winners lose to Liverpool on Saturday.
Brown – who made 99 appearances for Manchester City – said: “I would still back City if they lost the game – no question. They’re going to be right in the mix and surely City will win the league again?
“In past seasons you’d be worrying because Liverpool are winning all their games, they look powerful and are giving people the runaround regularly. I don’t think they’re at that level this season. I’ve seen them and that midfield still concerns me slightly.”

We agree with Brown – who also claimed that John Stones must start if he is fit.
A win for Liverpool would only take Jürgen Klopp’s men two points above Manchester City with 25 games remaining in the Premier League.
At one stage last season, Arsenal were eight points ahead of Manchester City with fewer fixtures remaining, and the Citizens still managed to leapfrog the Gunners.
Therefore, Brown is right – Manchester City would still be clear favourites to win the Premier League, even if the Reds reign supreme at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
Manchester City in a strong position ahead of Liverpool clash
In many ways, it feels like Guardiola’s side are yet to get out of first gear, but still find themselves top of the Premier League.

That should please Manchester City fans, as it means things are surely only going to improve – especially when Stones and Kevin De Bruyne are fit enough to make the starting XI again on a weekly basis.
Whatever happens on Saturday, Manchester City are in good shape to defend their Premier League title.
