Journalist Alex Crook has claimed that Cole Palmer is looking to leave Manchester City this summer.
After being a part of City’s treble-winning season, the winger recently helped the England U21s win the 2023 European Championship.
Now though, one journalist has claimed that the 21-year-old is looking to start a new chapter in his career away from the Etihad Stadium.
Crook claims Palmer wants City exit
Speaking on talkSPORT, Crook said this about Palmer when discussing the possibility of Kalvin Phillips leaving City this summer, despite the midfielder recently claiming he’s looking forward to having a better season next year than his last one turned out to be.
He said: “I’ve just checked the stats, Cole Palmer actually played more Premier League games than Kalvin Phillips last season but he’s looking to leave, he wants to go out and play regularly, so Cole Palmer’s not happy just picking up his wages and watching from the bench.”
Last season saw the attacker start seven of the 25 games he appeared in across all competitions, only managing to score one goal and supply one assist along the way.
If the youngster, as Crook claimed, isn’t happy with the amount of minutes he got across City’s previous campaign, perhaps joining a side on loan where he would be a guaranteed starter could be the best next step for his career.
On the flip side, if Palmer stays where he is, he can continue learning from Pep Guardiola as well as the other players at the club and fight for a regular spot in the team.
Either way, with pre-season set to start next week for the European champions, a decision will have to be made that all parties are happy with before the season kicks off.
