Jack Grealish has responded to claim he disrespected the Fluminense players during Manchester City’s victory in the FIFA Club World Cup final.

The Citizens beat Fluminense 4-0 in last night’s final in Saudi Arabia to crown themselves as world champions thanks to goals from Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden.

After the game, Fluminense’s 40-year-old defender Felipe Melo said that Jack Grealish was being disrespectful to the Brazilian side by shouting ‘ole’ towards the end of the game, which he didn’t find particularly pleasing.

This has since led to Grealish taking to social media to share his response on the matter.

In a recent Twitter post, the Englishman shared this six-word message regarding Melo’s claim about his conduct on the pitch.

He said: “Not once did I say ole.”

Across the entire 90 minutes, the 28-year-old was fouled on four occasions by the opposition, more than any other City player on the night.

While things may have got feisty during the game at times between Grealish and some Fluminense players, it seems odd that someone as experienced as Melo would get so wound up by one opposition player that he would potentially make up something like this in an effort to make his anger towards the Englishman justifiable.

Either way, the main focus should be on the match and the way in which Pep Guardiola’s side dismantled Fluminense to secure the trophy and establish themselves as the best team on the planet.

Moving forward, the Blues have a tough test ahead of them on Wednesday where they travel to Goodison Park to take on Everton in their latest Premier League match, which is a fixture where Grealish and the rest of his teammates will need to be strong in all departments to make sure they pick up all three points.
