Jamie Carragher has now made a comment about Manchester City after Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Luton on Sunday.
The 45-year-old was speaking on Sky Sports after Super Sunday’s final game.

Well, the Sky Sports pundit believes Manchester City are still far superior at stopping counter attacks in comparison to Liverpool.
Carragher said: “Liverpool still aren’t as good as Man City at stopping counter attacks. Liverpool are a team who dominate possession, they have a lot of the ball, but they’re not quite as good as Man City off the ball, so there are more turnovers and they lose the ball.”
Pep Guardiola has made stopping opposition counter attacks a key aspect of his Manchester City side’s tactical setup, specifically through the use of strategic fouling.
A detailed article from The Athletic showcased this tremendously – while also adding a quote from Manchester City’s Amazon Prime All or Nothing documentary, in which Mikel Arteta can be heard saying: “Make fouls. If there is a transition, make a foul.”
Clearly – just by watching them play – Liverpool do not have this cynical side in them under Jürgen Klopp, whereas Manchester City strike us as a side more in possession of street smarts, if you will.

Lots of people are talking about Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool as Premier League title challengers this season, but Manchester City are still the benchmark in England’s top-flight.
Spurs lack the winning experience of Manchester City – as do Arsenal – while Liverpool are midway through a slight rebuild, in which they lost plenty of the savvy knowhow which helped them win the Premier League in 2020.
All three sides possess outstanding players – some of whom would start for Manchester City – although in general, Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool do not have the collective qualities of Guardiola’s treble winners.
