‘Not true’: Agent now suggests ‘ruthless’ £20m player could still leave Man City

As reports have surfaced that Ilkay Gundogan is primed to sign a new contract with Manchester City, Ilhan Gundogan, his agent has denied that any agreement has been reached.

This comes from Fabrizio Romano, as it has been claimed that the £20 million (Guardian) man has agreed to renew his deal at the Etihad Stadium.

However, it seems like Ilkay Gundogan could still snub a contract renewal to leave Manchester City, as per his agent.

What Ilkay Gundogan agent said about his contract situation at Manchester City

The 32-year-old, branded as a ‘ruthless genius’ by the Guardian has once again reminded the world that he is not just one of the best midfielders in the world but also one of the most clutch in the business.

From vital braces against the likes of Leeds United and Everton during the title run-in to a brilliant pair of volleyed goals against Manchester United in the FA Cup final, the City captain is built for the big moments.

While Manchester City intend to tie Ilkay Gundogan down to a new contract, his agent has put all the rumours about his agent’s commitment to his current club to bed.

“Nothing has been agreed with City or any other club. The recent reports are not true. Ilkay is only focused on the [Champions League] final”

Ilkay Gundogan likely does not wish to be distracted before the Champions League final

With a domestic double in the bag for Manchester City and Ilkay Gundogan, his agent may well have made this claim to ensure that his client is not distracted by all the speculation before the Champions League final.

After all, it is not as if he revealed that a new deal is not on the cards for Gundogan.

The midfield maestro is on the verge of finally winning Europe’s elite competition after having lost two finals in the past, as well as captaining the Sky Blues to a potential treble.

All the contract talk could potentially put Ilkay Gundogan off his game, which would be both detrimental for him and Manchester City ahead of their biggest game of the season.
