Richard Dunne has praised Manchester City star Phil Foden for the recent run of form he’s been in.
The 23-year-old has been a regular in Pep Guardiola’s team this season, starting all but one of the 20 Premier League matches he’s appeared in.
After scoring two of the five goals City scored during last weekend’s 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup, Foden has now found himself on the end of some significant praise from one former City player.
Dunne thrilled by Foden

Speaking in a livestream on the club’s YouTube channel ahead of City’s Premier League away match against Newcastle United, Dunne had this to say about Foden.
He said: “He’s amazing, I love watching him. I just think, as a footballer, there’s nothing better than watching someone who can just float through a game and he does it perfectly.
“I think when people talk about he’s not really come to the fore before, you start to look at his goals and assists and everyone from the outside is going well he’s scoring goals so he must be playing well. He’s been playing well since he’s gotten into the team, he’s just getting that little bit more freedom now.
“He’s the main point of the team at the moment. Last week against Huddersfield, it was a bit of a tight block from Huddersfield and it was difficult and you were just waiting for Foden to work it out and find where the space were. It took him 20 minutes and he started to find them, he started to create chances and then he just ran the show from there.
“He’s been doing it in the Premier League, he’s been doing it in the Champions League, he’s just a fantastic footballer.”
With 30 appearances to his name across all competitions prior to the Newcastle game, the England international has scored 11 goals and supplied eight assists.
In addition to the brace he bagged against Huddersfield, Foden also headed into the Newcastle match with three assists and one goal from his three previous league games, further highlighting the hot run of form he has been in recently.
Now that Kevin De Bruyne is starting to get back on the pitch, it’s safe to say that if the Englishman wants to keep his place in midfield on a long-term basis, he’ll have to make sure he stay at the level he’s been at recently.
