Yussuf Poulsen has said that the RB Leipzig players as a collective aim to take revenge against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Speaking to CBS Sports’ Morning Footy Show, the Danish striker was quizzed about whether the German side aim to redeem themselves after their 7-0 drubbing at the Etihad Stadium last season.

Yussuf Poulsen said RB Leipzig are determined to right their wrongs against Manchester City, starting from the upcoming fixture in the Champions League group-stage at the Red Bull Arena.

The treble-winners are not expected to be as brittle as they were during their successive defeats against Newcastle and Wolves with Rodri set to be available for the clash.

Nico Cantor asked, “Manchester City’s coming off of a loss [against Wolves]. For you guys, you guys must have that taste of revenge in your mouth?”

Yussuf Poulsen replied by saying that the RB Leipzig players intend to seek redemption against Manchester City.

“Of course, we have [a taste of revenge in our mouths]”, he said.

“To be fair, we’ve been quite good against City, we’ve won one time and then drawn [against] them another time. And then let’s not talk about how we did it in City. Just focus on how great we are playing against them at home.”

Manchester City will have a game on their hands

Yussuf Poulsen and RB Leipzig have every right to feel the way they do, especially considering how much they restricted the English giants in the first leg of the Champions League last-16 last season.

Marco Rose’s side are coming off the back of a 2-2 draw against Bayern Munich at home, whilst having kicked off their Bundesliga campaign with four wins, a draw and one defeat in their first six games.

Plus, while City have started their season well, they have not been at their very best in their last two games.

Away from home, even Pep Guardiola’s side can expect a challenging outing.
