Oli McBurnie was full of praise for one Manchester City player during Spain’s 2-1 win against England in the final of the European Championship.
John Stones and Kyle Walker played throughout the entirety of the contest while Phil Foden and Rodri were substituted for Cole Palmer and Martin Zubimendi respectively.
While the Spanish international won the Player of the Tournament award, his injury at half-time prevented him from displaying why the Ballon d’Or should also have his name on it.
Rodri (41) capped off Euro 2024 by becoming the player who has recovered possession the second-highest number of times at the tournament — only behind Fabian Ruiz (46).

Oli McBurnie hails Rodri as Spain beat England at Euro 2024
The £62.5 million man won his second trophy with Spain — after winning the Nations League in 2019.
After the final, Jan Vertonghen stated that Rodri was guaranteed to win the Ballon d’Or.
The former Atletico Madrid anchor is certainly experiencing the best time of his career — winning four Premier League titles in a row and then going on to lift the European Championship trophy.
Oli McBurnie hailed Rodri when he was on the pitch for Spain against England as the game was level at 0-0.
The Sheffield United striker wrote on X: “It’s scary how good Rodri is by the way, best player on the pitch by a country mile.”
Rodri is finally getting the credit he deserves
From taking home the Player of the Tournament award to being appreciated by fellow professionals like Oli McBurnie, Rodri is finally getting the credit he deserves.
The 28-year-old was reliable in the middle of the park for Spain once again when they faced England — trying to dictate the game as much as possible and making crucial interventions.
While the likes of Lamine Yamal, Nico Williams and Dani Olmo have stolen the headlines for Luis de la Fuente’s side, it is Rodri who provides these attackers the platform to express themselves and get on the ball in favourable areas.
Considering the decorated midfielder has done the same at the Etihad Stadium, it is no surprise the masses have caught up to how phenomenal a player he is.
