It has been reported that a transfer involving Lucas Paqueta and Manchester City is on hold.

This comes from Kaveh Solhekol, after it was claimed on Friday that a deal is off.

Now, it has been revealed that there is still a minimal chance that Lucas Paqueta becomes a Manchester City player.

Kaveh Solhekol: Lucas Paqueta to Manchester City is only 10% likely now

A report claimed on Sunday that Pep Guardiola himself was keen on the Brazilian international’s arrival after Kevin De Bruyne’s injury.

It seemed like the logical move to go all guns blazing to sign the 25-year-old, branded as a player with ‘unreal skills’ by Vladimir Coufal (via West Ham’s official website), as he could provide cover in midfield as well as on the wing.

But now, Kaveh Solhekol has reported that a deal involving Lucas Paqueta and Manchester City is now ‘on hold.’

While it is believed that the situation could change, it is 90% likely that a transfer is completely off the table now.

This would be a blow for the Sky Blues, considering there are less than two weeks left in the ongoing summer transfer window.

Lucas Paqueta alternatives need to be lined up and signed quickly

It’s safe to say that if Lucas Paqueta does not end up at Manchester City, the club have had a supremely underwhelming window so far.

With Ilkay Gundogan sold and Kevin De Bruyne set to be out for half the season, the lack of creativity, especially in the middle of the park would be alarming.

One would hope from City’s perspective that alternatives to the Europa Conference League winner are lined up, with a deal expected to be struck soon.

In the case, the Sky Blues have displayed their usual astuteness in the transfer window.

But if not, especially off the back of winning the treble, their summer business has been far too limited and the window as a whole has been a letdown.
