Manchester City could potentially get their hands on a player that Pep Guardiola has previously raved about.
Earlier today, David Ornstein revealed in a Twitter post that City are “exploring deal” to sign Matheus Nunes from Wolves.
Ornstein also added that Nunes is one of the midfield options the Manchester club are considering making a move for before the summer transfer window closes, although Wolves are not likely to welcome any interest in the player at this stage.
This interest may not come as a surprise given what Guardiola has said about the Portuguese international previously.
Guardiola’s previous praise of Nunes

Speaking back in February last year after seeing his side pick up a 5-0 win in the Champions League against Sporting CP, who Nunes left to join Wolves last summer in a deal worth £38m, the City manager had this to say about the midfielder.
He said: “Matheus Nunes is one of the best players in the world today. Nunes is one of the best at the moment.”
Featuring in 34 Premier League games for the Old Gold last season, the 24-year-old showed his ability in an attacking and defensive sense.

From an attacking point of view, Nunes ended the campaign with more carries into the final third (54) than any other player at the Midlands club, as well as having the joint-third highest number of shots at goal (28).
Then from a defensive standpoint, the midfielder racked up the third-highest combined total of tackles and interceptions (83) at Wolves.
While Wolves may have had a difficult season last term, Nunes showed what he’s capable of and why he could be an asset for City in and out of possession.
Moving forward, given what Guardiola has said about the midfielder, if City were able to seal a late move for Nunes, it’d be safe to say that the Spaniard would be over the moon to have him in the squad.
