Phil Foden says he’s desperate to play alongside Kevin De Bruyne regularly at Manchester City.

The Belgian has been out of action since August after undergoing surgery on a hamstring issue.

Having made his return last weekend where he came on as a second-half substitute in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield Town in the FA Cup, De Bruyne will now be aiming to play a big part in the remainder of the season.

With the midfielder now on track to start playing regularly again, one of his teammates has been sharing how excited he is to see the 32-year-old on the pitch.

Speaking in a recent interview with the club, Foden had this to say about playing alongside De Bruyne.

He said: “Who doesn’t want to play with Kev? When you play with Kev, he’s always going to find you in the good areas because he’s one of the best passers in the world.

“Hopefully I can play with him – whether it’s in midfield or off the wing. I’m just looking forward to him getting back to his best because it’s what the team needs.”

While De Bruyne has been out of action, Foden has stepped up to be one of City’s most creative and dangerous players, having scored 11 goals and delivered eight assists in 30 appearances prior to the club’s away match against Newcastle United.

Bearing in mind how the Belgian, who the club signed back in 2015 for £55m, provided more assists (31) than any other City player in all competitions last season, it’s easy to see why the 23-year-old would be keen to be on the pitch next to De Bruyne.

Looking ahead to the rest of the season, if Pep Guardiola can find a way that Foden and De Bruyne can play together and be able to deliver goals and assists on a consistent basis, this could provide the boost City need to win more silverware.
