Paul van Himst has lavished praise upon Manchester City speedster Jeremy Doku.
Speaking to Voetbal Krant, he gave his two cents on the Belgian winger, who has been a breath of fresh air at the Etihad Stadium.
Now, Paul van Himst has backed Jeremy Doku to become a bona fide superstar at Manchester City.
Paul van Himst says Jeremy Doku will become ‘one of the best players in the world’ in a year
Branded as ‘clever’ by Pep Guardiola, the 21-year-old has started life at City on fire.
So much so that many already believe that the youngster is already an upgrade on Jack Grealish at left wing.
Paul van Himst has now had his say on Jeremy Doku and how much he could explode at Manchester City.

“I have known him since he was young, because he played with my grandson at the U16 or U18 level. He is terribly fast. What is good for him is that he is an individualist”, he said.
“But now that he left for Manchester City, he will learn to play in a team. Because at City, if he plays two games and doesn’t give the ball much, the others won’t give him the ball either. In a year’s time I think he will be one of the best players in the world. He has so many qualities.”
Jeremy Doku has the perfect coach to help him unleash his full potential in Pep Guardiola
Paul van Himst could well have a point as there is no questioning how naturally talented Jeremy Doku is.
However, as seen during his performance during Manchester City’s 2-1 defeat to Wolves, the youngster still has quite a lot of room for improvement.
For instance, while Doku is an incredible dribbler, his tendency not to perhaps link play more often makes his threat slightly one-paced at times.
Off the ball as well, considering how rapid Doku is, he should run in behind defences as a means to increase his end product.
Luckily for the former Rennes sensation, a certain Pep Guardiola has a flawless track record of turning young wingers into undeniably well-rounded players operating at world-class levels under his guidance.
