Frank Lampard believes Manchester City have a player who could be considered among the best in Premier League history.
Chelsea legend Lampard has a lot of authority when it comes to ranking players on such a level considering his own illustrious career.
Lampard won three Premier League titles, a Champions League and scored 297 goals, including eight during his brief spell at City, in his playing days.
The 45-year-old was an inaugural inductee to the Premier League Hall of Fame in 2021 and it sounds like he thinks Kevin De Bruyne will be in there one day, too.
De Bruyne has been tearing it up for City in his seven games since returning from injury and has already picked up 10 goal contributions despite only completing a full 90 minutes twice.
Lampard has moved to praise his former Chelsea teammate highly.

Frank Lampard has high praise for Kevin De Bruyne
Speaking to City’s in-house media, Lampard said: “He’s so unique in terms of hitting his top levels so regularly.
“His understanding of the game, the goals he scores, his work ethic for the team, those have developed since I played with him obviously and we have all seen him become one of the greatest midfield players in the Premier League era, for sure.”
Not in doubt
Perhaps some fans would still argue the likes of Steven Gerrard, Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira and even Lampard himself are still the best midfielders the Premier League has ever seen.
But at this point, De Bruyne has surely surpassed them all.
The brilliant Belgian has been immense for nearly a decade straight now, the best and most influential player in a team that has won the treble and five Premier League titles.
Keane and Paul Scholes are the only contenders who can beat De Bruyne for silverware but they could never do what he does in every single match.
The game has moved on leaps and bounds since their heydays and comparing is usually a pointless endeavour but there isn’t a midfielder who stands on De Bruyne’s level.
