Manchester City decided to send Yan Couto on loan to Girona once again back in July – his third temporary stint at the Spanish side.
The Brazilian has shone so far this season, moving into a new gear compared to his previous spells at Girona, which were solid if not unspectacular.
Now – in the Spanish media – Yan Couto is receiving plenty of recognition away from Manchester City…
What’s the story?
Well, the South American is truly enjoying himself this season.
Couto has scored one goal while also providing two assists across eight appearances in La Liga so far this term, form which has helped Girona sit second behind Real Madrid in Spain’s top-flight.
The 21-year-old was rewarded with a call-up to the Brazil squad, making his debut in Friday’s 1-1 draw against Venezuela.
Now – after Couto made his debut for Brazil – Mundo Deportivo have heaped praise on him.
The Spanish news outlet write: “Yan Couto is being one of the sensations of this new season, leaving a goal and two assists in eight games and being decisive for the team in its offensive actions. The connection to all this has culminated in the dream of debuting with the Brazilian team.”

Clearly, the Brazilian right-back is making a significant impact in Spain this season, as well as on the international scene.
Yan Couto could feature for Manchester City next season
If Couto keeps this up, we see no reason why he cannot feature for Manchester City next season.
Pep Guardiola is not blessed with many right-back options beyond Kyle Walker, who will turn 34 in May.

Rico Lewis can operate there, but it seems he is preferred in central midfield.
Therefore – as Walker may need to be rested more often next season – we could see Couto given opportunities in the cup competitions, if he keeps impressing at Girona.
