BSC Young Boys No.15 Meschack Elia has now praised Manchester City and Manuel Akanji ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash.

The DR Congo international spoke to Blick ahead of the tie.

So, what did Meschack Elia say about Manuel Akanji and Manchester City? Let’s take a look…

What’s the story?

Well, the 26-year-old certainly sounds excited ahead of Manchester City’s visit to the Wankdorf Stadium.

Elia described it as “the biggest game of my life” as he prepares to face Pep Guardiola’s treble winners, while he is also relishing his battle against the £180,000-a-week Akanji.

The Kinshasa-born striker said: “It’s the biggest game of my life! Manchester City is the best team in the world, no question.

“I have never played against Manuel Akanji. This will definitely be a great duel. He is definitely one of the world’s best defenders. (They have) a super defence, but duels like this help you get better.”

Elia certainly sounds eager to make an impact tonight – to say the least.

Who could cause Manchester City problems for BSC Young Boys?

Manchester City are obviously the clear favourites to win this UEFA Champions League clash in Group G – however, BSC Young Boys have players who can hurt the treble winners.

Elia is one, having scored for BSC Young Boys in their 3-1 defeat to RB Leipzig.

The Swiss giants also have Jean-Pierre Nsame, who is currently their top goalscorer this season with seven goals in 13 appearances across all competitions, a solid return.

Filip Ugrinic could also be a thorn in Guardiola’s side – the Swiss star has three goals and four assists this term, including one of each in two UEFA Champions League appearances.

Nevertheless, we would expect Manchester City to have more than enough firepower to deal with whatever BSC Young Boys throw at them inside the Wankdorf Stadium.
