Journalist Kaveh Solhekol has shared some details on what Manchester City midfielder Rodri told him about his fitness situation following the club’s 4-0 win over Fluminense.
During the second half of the match last night in Saudi Arabia, which saw the Citizens win the FIFA Club World Cup, Rodri was on the receiving end of a bad tackle, which shortly led to him being taken off the pitch after getting some medical attention.
With some concern setting in about the midfielder’s fitness, one journalist shared some encouragement on the matter after speaking to Rodri once the final had come to an end.
Journalist shares Rodri update

In a recent Twitter post, Solhekol had this to say on the situation.
He said: “Rodri says he will be fit to play for Man City against Everton on Wednesday. Left the stadium tonight with light strapping on his right knee but was walking normally. Says tackle was one of the worst he’s experienced in his career. Says he almost cried but he’s absolutely fine.”
With the Spaniard starting all of the 22 games he’s appeared in this season, scoring four goals and providing six assists along the way, it’s clear that he’s an important figure for City.
In fact, out of the three Premier League games he has been unavailable for this season due to suspension, the Manchester club lost all three of them, scoring just one goal and conceding four in the process.
This shows just how much Pep Guardiola’s side miss the 27-year-old when he doesn’t play and why there would have some major concern when he found himself on the end of such a bad challenge last night.
However, with the player saying that he felt fine after the game and will be available for next week’s Premier League match against Everton, this will undoubtedly be a weight off everyone’s shoulders at the club.
