Despite Manchester City being known for having one of the best squads in the world, there are certain players they should let go in 2024, in our view.
We have picked three players in particular that Pep Guardiola’s men should look to offload next year.
1. It is time for Manchester City to cut ties with Joao Cancelo in 2024

As Joao Cancelo continues to redeem himself in a Barcelona shirt, club president Joan Laporta recently suggested that his side could be able to sign him permanently.
Manchester City should be delighted with this piece of news and try to ensure that the Portuguese full-back is no longer on their books in 2024.
Joao Cancelo has had his highs at the Etihad Stadium but at this point, it seems like the 29-year-old, Manchester City, and Barcelona are happy with his ongoing loan deal and it would be a dream scenario if he is allowed to sign for the Spanish side next year.
2. Offloading Kalvin Phillips in 2024 is a must for Manchester City

It was reported by Fabrizio Romano last Monday that Juventus had “opened talks” with Manchester City to get a loan deal with an option to buy over the line for Kalvin Phillips in the upcoming January transfer window.
It would be ideal for all parties involved if the Englishman found a new lease of life in Turin when given more regular playing time, so the chance of a permanent transfer becomes a possibility.
Furthermore, it’s safe to assume that he will not become a part of Pep Guardiola’s plans anytime soon.
Last Tuesday, it was claimed that the Premier League champions value the former Leeds United dynamo at £40 million.
If City manage to sell Phillips for such a fee, his sale would likely be able to fund a move for his replacement as well.
It is time for Manchester City to cut their losses with the treble-winner in 2024 and look ahead.
3. The Sergio Gomez gamble has not worked out

Considering Sergio Gomez was brought in as last-minute cover at left-back last summer and has rarely been used ever since, it would be harsh to suggest that he has been a major letdown in sky blue.
But simultaneously, it was quite clear from day one that the Spaniard was not ready to play as a left-back for Manchester City, in our view.
While Gomez is a bright spark going forward, his contribution in attacking areas is not at a level that justifies his poor performances at the back.
As a result, it makes the ex-Borussia Dortmund defender a risky option to play in the Premier League or crucial Champions League games, in particular.
In midfield and on the wing, Sergio Gomez looks much more at home.
But Manchester City simply have superior options than him in both positions, which would make his sale a justified priority for the club in 2024.
