Pundit Danny Murphy has said that Lucas Paqueta would definitely want to join Manchester City this summer.
Earlier today, it was reported that City have approached West Ham United with an offer of £70m to sign the midfielder, but have already been knocked back by the Hammers.
This has since led to one pundit sharing his thoughts on this particular transfer saga, specifically from the Brazilian’s point of view.
Murphy says Paqueta would be desperate to join City
Speaking on talkSPORT, Murphy had this to say about Paqueta and a potential move to City.
He said: “Unfortunately, whether West Ham fans like it or not, you can’t turn down that opportunity to go to Man City, the best team in the world.

“And because they’ve lost [Ilkay] Gundogan and [Riyad] Mahrez on the right, Paqueta can play lots of positions, he’s creative, he’ll probably think this is an opportunity of a lifetime and definitely want to do it.”
The 25-year-old joined the east London club last summer from Olympique Lyon in a deal worth £51m.
His debut season at the London Stadium saw the midfielder make 39 appearances for David Moyes’ side across the Premier League and the Europa Conference League, scoring five goals and delivering seven assists along the way.
Bearing in mind how City won the treble last season and have established dominance in the Premier League by winning five of the previous six titles, it’s easy to see why Murphy thinks Paqueta, who has an £85m release clause in his contract at West Ham, which is set to activate next summer, would jump at the chance to make a move to the Etihad Stadium.
Moving forward, if the Manchester club are willing to pay what could be a significant amount of money to buy the Brazil international, they may not have too much trouble trying to convince the player to make a move up north from London.
