Journalist, Ben Jacobs, has shared what the potential transfer fee could be for Manchester City to sign Mateo Kovacic.
With City reportedly agreeing personal terms with the Chelsea midfielder earlier this month, some fresh details have emerged regarding a potential deal between the two clubs.
In a recent Twitter post, Jacobs said this on the matter.
He said: “Manchester City now closing in on signing Mateo Kovacic, who has already agreed personal terms. Optimism on all sides with a fee of over £30m. Talks centered on structure of the deal now. Expectation is a full agreement will be in place soon.”

Good business from City?
Back in 2018, the west London club signed the 29-year-old on a loan deal from Real Madrid before securing him on a permanent deal worth £40m a year later.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, the Croatian has made 221 appearances across all competitions, scoring six goals, providing 15 assists and winning one Champions League title.
Taking into account his age and the fee that Chelsea splashed out to sign him, it’s understandable why City may be looking to sign him for a price lower than the £40m mark.

The midfielder recently played 85 minutes of Croatia’s 4-2 win over the Netherlands in their UEFA Nations League semi-final.
Across those 85 minutes, Kovacic successfully completed 69 of the 72 passes he attempted, leaving him with the highest passing accuracy percentage out of players that started for Croatia.
Bearing in mind how City ended their latest Premier League campaign with more passes completed (23263) than any other side in the division, as well as having the highest passing accuracy percentage (87.3%) in the league, it’s easy to see why they have identified the Chelsea star as a suitable transfer target.
Moving forward, if the Citizens managed to strike a deal with the west London club for Kovacic, paying a similar fee to what Jacobs mentioned in his tweet, we feel this would be a great bit of business from the European champions.
