Manchester City prodigy Oscar Bobb heaped praise on Kevin De Bruyne for his wondrous assist that set up his winner against Newcastle United.

The 20-year-old emphasised how De Bruyne may be the only player in world football capable of executing a pass that difficult during his post-match interview with TNT Sports (13/01/2024).

After Manchester City’s 3-2 victory over Eddie Howe’s side, Rio Ferdinand also admitted that he was surprised by how “sharp” the 32-year-old was on Saturday, considering he has only recently returned from a long-term injury.

The £54 million (The Telegraph) man turned the game on its head as a second-half substitute, first caressing the ball from outside the box past Martin Dubravka to level proceedings in the 74th minute

In the dying embers of the contest, De Bruyne played a sumptuous lofted pass in Bobb’s path, who showcased his immaculate first touch and close control to score a 91st-minute winner for the visitors at St. James’ Park.

After Manchester City pulled off a heroic comeback to defeat Newcastle, Oscar Bobb was initially quizzed about his thoughts on the stunning assist from Kevin De Bruyne for his strike.

“I said thank you to him after. He’s the only one in the world that can do that so to get to play with him is great”, he told TNT Sports.

The youngster was also asked his thoughts about De Bruyne’s return, and he answered, “Not only one of the greatest players in the Premier League, he’s also a very nice guy, helps the young lads a lot so just having him back, I mean, he’s one of our captains so I think it definitely helps strengthen the team.”

It is tough to disagree with the youngster about Kevin De Bruyne

Oscar Bobb is spot on about Manchester City teammate Kevin De Bruyne, who played a pass against Newcastle not many in the world can execute.

A majority of players in world football would perhaps not even think of playing such a pass, let alone pull it off, in our view.

However, Manchester City have a true midfield maestro in Kevin De Bruyne in their ranks, who has been splitting defences with such exquisite passes for almost a decade now.

Against Newcastle, De Bruyne came up trumps, as has become standard procedure at this point.
