Oscar Bobb has shared his admiration for a current Manchester City player.

Bobb is quite an interesting profile of player.

On the surface, the Oslo-born attacker is the archetypal City player in today’s day and age — known for his sublime technique and astuteness on the pitch.

The 21-year-old is the kind of player who is expected to always master his fundamentals of retaining possession and being rightly positioned at all times.

However, during his short stint as a first-team player at Manchester City, Bobb has showcased that he is an extremely dynamic player as well — as exemplified by his solo goal against Red Star Belgrade as well as his last-gasp winner against Newcastle United last season coupled with his wonderful assist for Erling Haaland’s strike against AC Milan in pre-season.

The youngster has the talent, flair and confidence to turn into a match-winner for club and country one day.

Oscar Bobb shares Bernardo Silva admiration

With how multifaceted a prospect Bobb is, it is natural to think of players comparable to him.

David James views the highly-rated technician as the “next Phil Foden”, as he expressed during City’s latest 3-2 loss to AC Milan.

The Norwegian was left stunned when likened to Riyad Mahrez.

However, Bobb has claimed that the player he always emulates is Bernardo Silva.

Bobb said via Manchester Evening News journalist Joe Bray: “For me, it’s always Bernardo [Silva] — I always look at him — I try to emulate some parts of his game but do my own thing as well.”

Oscar Bobb must learn key Bernardo Silva trait

Bobb, much like the £300,000-a-week man is capable of playing as a number 10 as well as in central midfield.

But nowadays, when teams play a pair of attacking midfielders, the concern is which player out of the two has the engine and defensive awareness to be able to halt opposition attacks in a double pivot when the side is out of possession.

Bobb is a relentless presser and deceptively physical when going toe-to-toe with opponents despite his slight frame but so far, Pep Guardiola is yet to trust him in the number eight position.

Bernardo — described as “amazing” by Gary Neville — however, who is also quite slight has played in the role for years due to his tenacity, ability to cover grass at will and fearlessness when locking horns with more physically imposing players.

If Bobb develops the Portuguese international’s ability to defend in a double pivot, his chances of starting at City might increase due to how well-rounded a midfielder he will turn into; considering his dribbling, creativity and eye for goal are traits he has already been blessed with.
