Manchester City will take a 3-1 lead back to the Etihad Stadium, after they beat FC Copenhagen 2-1 at Parken in the Champions League tonight.

Pep Guardiola‘s side made 11 wins in a row in all competitions, and it was a more comfortable night than the final scoreline suggests.

City took the lead through Kevin De Bruyne, who collected a lovely pass through from Phil Foden after a nice switch of play from Ruben Dias.

Copenhagen then equalised against the run of play with Magnus Mattson scoring after a poor pass out from Ederson.

Just before half-time though City got back in front thanks to Bernardo Silva, before Phil Foden wrapped things up right at the end of the game. The finish from Bernardo was lapped up by TNT commentator Ally McCoist…

City were fairly dominant throughout tonight’s game.

There was good control of the ball, with Rodri and John Stones really dictating things in midfield, and there was plenty of space in the wide areas that City kept looking for.

There were plenty of great performances, with Kevin De Bruyne particularly influential once again.

But there was a moment of serious quality in the game when Bernardo scored his goal.

De Bruyne took a heavy touch but his challenge saw the ball run through to Bernardo, who dinked his finish first time into the far corner.

McCoist said on commentary: “I can tell you right now Pep, you get a break of the ball. After that, the finish is sublime.

“That is magic! Just a flick with the outside of the right boot into the far corner. Grabara has no chance, beautiful finish from the wee fella.

“His (Pep’s) team have dominated the game, then you give them an equaliser. He’d have been really upset to be going in on level terms. That isn’t the case now, with the break of the ball they got, and the finish was out of this world.”

What a player

Bernardo’s goal was brilliant, but his whole display tonight was just typically high level.

The Portuguese maestro was extremely evasive and elusive, and his ball control was on point as it always is, meaning the Copenhagen players had a very difficult time dispossessing him.

Bernardo went off with around

The 29-year-old is having another fine season for City and the club keeping him for this season was so important.

He might well have left but ultimately he stuck around and that is looking a bigger deal with each passing game.
